12 Days of Christmas

Dexter and I went to see Santa

I thought the Twelve Days of Christmas started today and ended in 12 days on Christmas, but I was wrong. The twelve days of Christmas starts ON Christmas and ends on January 5th. This is according to Wikipedia, which unlike me, is never wrong. I was kind of bummed to find out the 12 days didn’t start for another 12 days. Instead of getting all depressed about it I figure I’ll just start my own Christmas tradition and celebrate 12 days before Christmas ending on Christmas….

Wait a minute! Why should I stop celebrating on Christmas? Isn’t everyday special? I can celebrate 365 days of Christmas and take days off to celebrate other holidays like Valentine’s Day and Ground Hog Day. You can’t have it be a day of Christmas and the 4th of July…that wouldn’t make any sense, not that I need to make sense. It’s not like there’s a bunch of people out there making sure things make sense.

I’m starting my 1st day of Christmas today! On the first day of Christmas we write a letter to Santa. If you’d like to follow along with me on this 12 days of Christmas tradition you can write a letter too. They have free postcards at Macy’s that are addressed to Santa in The North Pole. According to their website Macy’s has already received nearly 800,000 letters. The United States Post Office also runs a program called Operation Santa, where they fulfill the wishes for letter writers in need. You can pick up blank postcards from a participating post office, or you can just address your own postcard! The post office helps redirect Santa’s mail because Santa’s real address is a big secret. Can you imagine the paparazzi outside his home if his address was leaked?!

I wrote my letter this morning and I’m sending it out today. Here’s what it said:

Dear Santa,
I don’t really need anything because I am a stuffed bunny. All the clothing and toys I do have I received “gently used” from kids who no longer wanted to dress up their dolls. Sometimes people give me their dog’s sweater that doesn’t fit their dog anymore. I have way more stuff than one stuffed bunny would ever need for this lifetime.
I think you should give the new toys to the kids who don’t get new toys very often. It’s really fun to open a brand new toy and be the first to use it. It has that “new toy” smell and everything. Kids like that.
I do have one request. If you happen to have a pair of Elf shoes that one of the elves isn’t wearing anymore, I would love to have them; green or red is fine. I mean seriously, who wouldn’t want a pair of Elf Shoes? They are pretty cool.
I hope your holiday season is going well.
Love,
Baxter Bunny

Just because I didn’t ask for stuff doesn’t mean you shouldn’t. Stuff is fun, but really, I am a stuffed bunny and scientifically I really don’t need anything.

What are you going to ask Santa for this year?

  1. I’m really happy, because I have my husband and my dog and my bunny. They make me really happy, and all I want is to be happy.

But then the other part of me is screaming, I really want a Ninja Kitchen System 1200! Just imagine all the magical things I could make…

Don’t forget to celebrate Festivus on December 23rd. My Festivus Pole will be put up this weekend. Then next Friday it’s time for the Festivus meal and the “Airing of Grievances”.

Following the meal, it’s time for the “Feats of Strength”.

December is such a magical time of the year!

OMG!!! I’m just reading this and realized we wrote on the same topic. I had no idea that you wrote on the Twelve Days of Christmas. And yes, I was equally surprised to find out that it continues till January. How interesting. :-) Happy Holidays! :-)
